Families can break the cycle of hepatitis B&C infection by getting tested, vaccinated and treated. 31% of patients got 5 more years to live. However, once the disease has spreaded to lymph nodes and other organs, the survival rate is only 11%.

Worldwide, 325 million people have been infected with hepatitis B&C. 2017 In Vietnam, an estimated 7.7 million people are hepatitis B-positive and nearly one million are hepatitis C-positive. Chronic infection of hepatitis B & C is the main cause of liver cancer which accounted for 88% of hepatitis B & C patients in Vietnam. Hepatitis is also the second leading cause of death after Tuberculosis.

Beating Hepatitis B, C & Liver Cancer

Chronic infection of hepatitis B & C is the main cause of liver cancer which accounted for 88% of hepatitis B & C patients in Vietnam. Global Mortality from Viral Hepatitis in five years had increased 22%.

Also in 2017, an estimated 40,000 deaths are caused by hepatitis B and C. This number is increasing and will continue to increase if testing and early treatment for hepatitis B and C virus keep being ignored, which being said that treatment and control of hepatitis is extremely important

More than 90% of HBV infection is attributable to vertical transmission from infected mother to newborn and horizontal transmission during early childhood. In addition, other groups are also at high risk for hepatitis B and C, including: People sharing the same needles and syringes when having injection, mostly drug users, homosexual people male, who uses common tattoos or acupuncturists, who are spouses of people with hepatitis B and health care workers.

However, hepatitis can be prevented, diagnosed, treated and cured. The hepatitis B vaccine is 95% effective in preventing new hepatitis B infections. Some people with hepatitis B can have lifetime treatment. In other cases, they should always check and monitor the disease. People with hepatitis C should go for cure completely. Most people with hepatitis C can cure completely for 3 months.

After years of professionally experiences and expertise in diagnosing and treating surgical diseases, especially Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary & Advanced Gastrointestinal Surgery. 2012, Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong successfully performed the first adult liver transplant, Southern Vietnam and got awarded Vietnam Golden Star for this project.

Expertise in General Internal Medicine and 35-year-solid experience in medical knowledge background, doing research & treatment in Internal Medicine, Dr. Tran Quang Binh has been holding the key role in managing and administering CIH healthcare system since July 2016.
