Endoscopic cholecystectomy is the golden solution for treating gallstones. This is a minimally invasive surgical procedure performed to remove the gallbladder, to treat conditions such as gallstones, acute cholecystitis, gallstones, gallbladder atrophy, gallbladder tumors, etc.

The "origin" of gallbladder stones is bile fluid - a compound that helps the body digest fats and tame a series of vitamins. The bile secretion is secreted by the liver and transported to the gallbladder, which carries out the role of preserving and condensing bile, with a pear-shaped shape that extends. The presence of fat in the digested food triggers a hormonal response that causes the gallbladder to constrict, followed by the bile being emptied into the intestine.

Gallbladder stones are no different from small lumps that appear from crystallized bile. In the West, most gallbladder stones are primarily composed of cholesterol. In Vietnam, most are pigment stones, originating from eggs and corpses of intestinal parasites.

Cholesterol crystallizes in small lumps when the gall bladder stores more bile fluid than it can dissolve bile salts. The cause of the stagnation may also be due to the abnormal functioning of the gallbladder. Gallbladder stones become a source of pathological conditions when they clog the gallbladder or cause cholecystitis.

Function of gall bladder

The gallbladder is a organ in the form of a biliary system that contains, condenses and expels bile secretions according to the rate at which the digestive system works. The gallbladder is connected to the common bile duct by the gallbladder. Bile secretions from the liver follow the bile duct system down the bile duct.

The common bile duct leads the bile down to the duodenum (the first segment of the intestine) but not intermittently but in beats at the rate of eating. Before emptying into the duodenum, the bile fluid blocked by Oddi sphincter (sphincter muscle into the duodenum) should be directed into the gallbladder. In the gallbladder, the bile fluid is absorbed by the gallbladder so it becomes more concentrated, which means that it improves quality.

Each time the food reaches the duodenum, it stimulates the gallbladder to contract violently, opening the Oddi sphincter to expel the necessary amount of bile down the duodenum to help digest the food. Thus, if there is no gall bladder, the bile fluid can normally secrete from the liver and pour down into the duodenum but continuously down rather than at the rate of eating as if there was a gall bladder.

Why does the disease mainly attack women?

All due to female hormones. Estrogens increase cholesterol levels in bile fluid, progesterone slows down gallbladder release speed. This further explains why the probability of women getting sick decreases with the same age (compared to the trend for men).

Before age 40, the rate of gallstones in women (especially at increased risk during pregnancy) is nearly three times higher than that of men diagnosed; after age 60, the probability of falling ill in women does not increase significantly. Hormone replacement therapy (estrogen) also increases the risk of disease, especially in the case of hormones supplemented to the body in oral form instead of indirectly through tape (through the skin). Birth control pills also increase the risk of gallbladder stones, especially during the first ten years of use.

The next risk factor is obesity: more body fat stores more estrogen. It is absurd that the risk also increases in the case of sudden weight loss due to fat loss efforts; because of the energy-poor menu that inhibits the production of bile, a factor that makes cholesterol precipitation faster. Gallstones gallstones following liposuction or gastric bypass surgery to limit appetite so much that patients now require cholecystectomy right after the procedure.

The next cause for the appearance of gallbladder stones is diabetes or other conditions that restrict gallbladder function or slow down the bowel movement - including spinal cord damage.

Most subjects who have precipitated gallstones without even knowing it. The "silent" stones do not cause any symptoms and are often discovered by chance on other visits - diagnosed by abdominal ultrasound.

Intense pain symptoms occur most often when a stone blocks the gallbladder. The pain often occurs in the case of a sudden spasm of the gallbladder (usually after a high-fat, meat-rich meal), due to the increased pressure of stones on the gallbladder or the act of constricting the gallbladder causing them to translate transfer, resulting in blockage of the confidential path.

In the basic symptoms the pain usually appears in the middle or right of the upper abdomen, just below the ribs - the pain increases over 60 minutes and can be sustained, gradually decreasing next few hours. Painful sensations can be strong and persistent (patients often associate scalp wounds) or stinging and inflated pain. It is not uncommon for pain to spread in the back (at kidney height) or the right arm. Does not eliminate poor nausea and vomiting. The pain subsided, when the gallbladder returned to its normal state.

Gallstones can also cause serious complications, such as acute cholecystitis, cholangitis, acute pancreatitis, etc.

Gallbladder stones if not operated promptly can lead to complications.

The bile secretion mechanism can function normally after gallbladder removal surgery; The liver chamber continues to produce enough bile fluid, to maintain physiological digestion. Simply, after cutting the gall bladder fluid flows directly into the intestine by the common bile path. If there is no food in the intestine for a long time, the presence of bile fluid can lead to diarrhea. Then it can be prevented by drugs that promote the effect of "gathering" bile acids and making secret based on cholestyramine (trade names: Questran, Locholest)..

Currently, in the world, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is considered to be the only method of choice for surgical treatment of gallbladder stones. This method is indicated for cases of symptomatic or complicated gallbladder stones. People also discuss about the appointment surgery for gallbladder stones not causing symptoms, not causing damage to the gallbladder. If surgery is indicated, the procedure selected by most physicians is cholecystectomy. It is thought that cholecystectomy does not cause great trouble for patients.

Can the risk of gallstones appear to be limited?

  • Every day need to eat three balanced meals.
  • Maintain a weight that does not exceed the age standards
  • Exercise regularly (walking) at least 30 minutes most days of the week.
