September 3, 2018, patients S.S (63, living in Cambodia) was saved by a team doctors at City International Hospital from Ventricular Tachycardia with her medical history of heart attack.

12 p.m.  September 3, Ms.S.S arrived at City International Hospital in an emergency medical condition: with fainting and loss of consciousness due to Extra-systole and ventricular tachycardia. The patient quickly got determined the severity of her condition and promptly got her life rescued.

After 2 hour-emergency rescue, your heart functioned normally and started to fully recovered. 2 p.m. the same day, Follow-up care for this patient, Coronary angiography was performed by a team of doctors from The Angiosuite-Heart, Brain and Vascular Institute at City International Hospital (Dr Nguyen Huu Tung) and Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) was diagnosed. Shortly after, the patient was given angioplasty with 3 stents placed in her coronary arteries.

The team said, without being treated in a timely manner, chances are ventricular tachycardia would cause sudden cardiac arrest. This case of emergency is absolutely life-threatening.

According to A/Prof. Dr. Tran Quang Binh, Deputy Medical Director at City International Hospital, Techniques in Coronary Artery Stenting which is stent insertions into the coronary arteries to restore blood flow is one of the best options for patients with coronary artery disease.

After a coronary angioplasty procedure or Stenting, the patient should have a healthy lifestyle, reasonable diet and proper physical exercises to improve the effectiveness of treatment and minimize the risk of disease recurrence.

Talking to her husband, Mr. Oum - Thorn (72 years old), he shared: "Initially, I brought my wife into hospital for backache treatment due to Herniated disk and disabling to walk, but my wife got some kind of cardiac complications which required immediate urgent treatment. I am also very worried about her history having heart disease (myocardial infarction- Heart attack). Fortunately we got all these problems solved thanks to our doctors. She’s safe now, such a relief for me and we sure to be back again for her herniated disc surgical treatment at City International Hospital. "

The DSA system at City International Hospital is the latest incarnation of the Artis Zee with PURE® from Siemens Healthineers. It has been specified with the most up to date clinical applications based on the innovative PURE® platform including those for cardiovascular, neurovascular and peripheral vascular intervention technology from Siemens.

The advantage of vascular intervention is a minimally invasive surgery that reduces treatment time and increases patient satisfaction. However, patients should be combined with positive lifestyle such as smoking; good diabetes control, good blood pressure control, regular physical activity, low saturated fat and low cholesterol diet.

“Ventricular tachycardia”

Ventricular tachycardia is a very fast heart rhythm that begins in the ventricles. The ventricles are the two lower chambers of the heart. They fill with blood from the atria, or top chambers of the heart, and send it to the rest of the body. The rapid heartbeat doesn’t give the ventricles enough to time to fill with blood before the heart contracts..

When that happens, your heart may not be able to pump enough blood to your body and lungs because the chambers are beating so fast or out of sync with each other that they don't have time to fill properly.

Ventricular tachycardia may be brief, lasting for only a few seconds, and perhaps not cause any symptoms. Or it can last for much longer and cause symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, palpitations or even loss of consciousness.

In some cases, ventricular tachycardia can cause your heart to stop (sudden cardiac arrest), which is a life-threatening medical emergency. This condition usually occurs in people with other heart conditions, such as those who have had a previous heart attack or other structural heart disease (cardiomyopathy).
