Many toddlers and preschoolers eat slowly or show a disinterest in food. If a child is not eating enough when he or she is in a growing stage his or her weight & height could be compromised.”

Dr. Kim Dung also explained: “there are 3 types of lazy eater: Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder which is described as an eating disturbance, selective eating disorder is when a person is only able to eat a couple of different foods without stress and the third type is never willing to try food. Causes:

  • Your child is having a sore throat, respiratory disease ...
  • Not getting enough daily nutrition and minerals
  • Young children are often more interested in play than food at this age
  • Gastrointestinal diseases
  • Less interest in food due to eating the same thing every day

Solutions

Parents have to be both collaborative and patient. To encourage better eating habits, model healthy eating yourself.
