Causes of cardiovascular disease

  • Cholesterol

Cholesterol is a substance made up of daily consumption or manufactured by the body. When blood cholesterol levels are too high, they will cling to artery walls, including coronary arteries, narrowing the walls of the arteries, obstructing blood circulation and reducing blood flow to feeding organs and organizations in the muscles. can lead to myocardial ischemia as well as anemia that nourishes other organs.

To maintain the average level of cholesterol, it is necessary to set a reasonable diet, use foods low in saturated fat and cholesterol, should use foods high in fiber, maintain body weight. normal and combined exercise. Regularly test your blood cholesterol for a proper diet.

  • High blood pressure

When you have high blood pressure, the heart has to work harder to get blood to feed the body, especially when the coronary artery is blocked, not providing enough oxygen and nutrients.

It is necessary to maintain blood pressure at a moderate level with a healthy lifestyle, proper nutrition, eat less salt, do not smoke, exercise, avoid obesity, should check blood pressure periodically.

Hypertension is also a cause of cardiovascular disease.

  • Diabetes

High blood sugar makes blood vessels hard and degenerate. Up to three-quarters of people with diabetes die from cardiovascular disease, prevent diabetes by maintaining average body weight with balanced nutrition and physical activity.

  • Smoking cigarettes, alcohol

Tobacco is one of the causes of heart disease.

Beer and wine should be consumed in moderation, if drinking too much beer, alcohol will lead to high blood pressure causing cardiovascular disease, stroke, heart failure due to increased triglyceride fat, reduced HDL fat. and atherosclerosis.

  • Obesity, Secontary lifestyle and Stress

Obesity forces the heart to work harder to support a large, long-term body mass that causes heart failure. The weight is calculated according to the Body Mass Index (BMI), the higher the number of fat in the body, the more appropriate nutrition and body movement will be needed. at normal levels.

Physical inactivity increases the risk of hypertension, obesity and diabetes. Therefore, it takes at least 30 minutes of exercise a day.

Exercise every day helps strengthen the resistance, good for the cardiovascular system.

Prolonged stress can adversely affect health, especially with cardiovascular disease. When the body is stressed, the adrenal glands will produce more adrenalin to help balance the body, but if prolonged stress makes it harder for the body to respond, it eventually causes heart failure, so stress reduction is needed.

In addition, there are several causes of cardiovascular disease such as: genetic factors, age, gender ...

Preventive measures and remedies

To prevent cardiovascular disease should have a reasonable diet, increase the use of vegetables, tubers, fruits, away from fast food and combined with exercise.

  • Eat a varied diet: Include foods of animal origin (meat, fish, eggs, milk) and plants (vegetables, fruits, rice, noodles, legumes).
  • Strict adherence to the diet: Eat 3 meals / day (elderly 4-5 meals / day), eat on time prescribed to make the body form reflexes that make the digestion of food take place Fast and easy.
  • Avoid stuffing your stomach: To avoid being overweight and prevent disease, each person should eat enough, not eating much, trying to eat.
  • Limit fatty foods: With diet for patients with coronary heart failure and patients with lower artery disease: patients should not drink buttermilk, chocolate, cocoa and Fatty fish (salmon, herring, mackerel, tuna), no animal fat, pork, lamb, duck, turkey, goose meat.

Limiting fat and  increasing fiber intake are very good for health, especially cardiovascular.

Use oils that are high in unsaturated fatty acids such as corn oil, sunflower oil or olive oil when preparing food.

Simultaneously with the application of diet, patients need to take lipid-lowering drugs as directed by a physician. Limiting the use of meats, fish to 150-200 grams / day, using tenderloin, non-fat beef, need to remove all visible fat before processing and the amount of fat created in cooking process, do not eat stir-fried water, bone broth, bone broth; no eating of skin, head, neck, wings, legs of poultry; restricting animal viscera.

Vegetable oil should be used to prepare food, but also must be limited, do not eat more than 2-3 eggs a week and must be every other day.

  • Limit sweets and salty foods. Supplement fiber, vitamins and minerals.
  • Limiting alcohol intake

Medicine has proved that alcoholism has a very bad effect on health in general and cardiovascular disease in particular. The case of small intake within the allowed daily limit of adverse effects on cardiovascular disease.

With the cardiovascular system, alcohol damages the heart muscle, increases heart size, reduces the ability of the heart to push blood, while alcohol relaxes the peripheral blood vessels, blood rushing out more.

  • Drink enough water

Need to drink water in a moderate amount acceptable to the body, especially with heart disease or kidney disease. For a healthy person, when drinking lots of water, the heart and kidneys have to increase their activity to get rid of water to keep the balance in the body. In contrast, in people who have had heart disease or kidney disease, these two organs are no longer working properly so the water will be trapped in the body causing symptoms of shortness of breath, edema, even causing "poisoning". water, "manifested by drowsiness, coma.
